RODNEY COLLEGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

A school where values and achievement go hand in hand

Rodney College is a place where young people grow in knowledge, in character, and in confidence. We draw students from Wellsford, Mangawhai, Pakiri, Tomarata, Tapora, Tauhoa, and the surrounding area.

For over 50 years, we’ve been grounded in strong foundations and high expectations. We focus on what matters: showing up, working hard, and treating others with respect. These expectations are not just about rules - they shape our school culture, strengthen relationships, and build lasting habits.

We expect students to do well and to do right.

Students are expected to be here every day, on time, correctly dressed, with the right equipment, and a here-to-learn attitude. These habits set the tone for success. We know consistency builds confidence. At Rodney College, effort is noticed, expectations are understood, and learning is the focus.

A school where every student and family is known

Our size is a strength. Students are known by name and encouraged to take part in opportunities they might not access elsewhere. Whether academic, hands-on, creative, or still finding their path, they are supported to grow.

When a student enrols, their family does too. We value education as a partnership and work closely with whānau who want the best for their young people, at school and beyond.

Anchored in community. Proud of our tradition.

The mark of a great school is the depth of its footprint in the community, and after more than 50 years, ours runs deep. Generations of families, staff, and leaders have shaped this place. We stand on their shoulders, continuing the work they began with care and purpose.

What we offer

  • A strong academic focus with personalised support

  • Clear pathways to university, trades, and employment

  • A settled environment where expectations are consistent

  • Opportunities in sport, arts, leadership, service, and culture

  • A school culture built on respect, responsibility, and healthy relationships

  • A growing connection to identity through te reo Māori and local history

Preparing students for life

Academic success matters - and we are ambitious for our students. But education is also about developing good people - young men and women who lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and contribute to the world around them. Our students leave ready for what comes next - in study, in work, and life.

Rodney College - Educating learners today for a better tomorrow.
