SCIENCE LAB TECHNICIAN - Part time, 1 day per week (6.5hrs).

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and committed person to provide comprehensive support to the Head of Department of Science, and to the teaching staff.  Under the general direction of our Science Head of Department, but working on your own for much of the time, you will be responsible for: 

  • Making, storing and organising both equipment and chemicals.

  • Cleaning equipment and chemical glassware after usage.

  • Preparing equipment and resources for teaching staff to use in experiments.

  • Knowledge of risk management and preferably the new code of practice for school science laboratories, but not necessary to begin.

  • Skills to work with Hazardous Substances - chemical and biological is a bonus.

  • Assisting our teachers to achieve learning outcomes by providing equipment and chemicals in a timely and safe manner for use in classes.

To be considered for this role, experience in a science role, a relevant qualification, and a good understanding of the school environment is an asset.  You will be committed to providing a quality service, have demonstrated good time management skills, and maintain a flexible and positive attitude.   You will be comfortable working as part of a team.

The is a part time role of 6.5 hours per week during the school term. The day you work is negotiable. A successful Police Vetting is a condition of continued employment at Rodney College.

PART TIME GARDENER - One day per week 

Rodney College is looking to appoint a keen gardener to manage the ongoing weeding and maintenance of gardens within the grounds of the college. Essential to this role is a good level of fitness as the campus is on more than one level with gardens in all areas.
